Nestled in the shadow of Mt Katahdin with access to both the West Branch of the Penobscot River and an amazing network of beautiful lakes - Ambajesus is a peaceful spot on the edge of wilderness. Great fishing, aquatic sports, hiking trails, lots of wildlife and a short distance to the South Gate of Baxter State Park.

Living a dream on the West Branch of the Penobscot River at Lake Ambajesus. Highly recommend to adventure seekers. Easy access to Class 1 through Class 5 rapids, quiet fishing holes, beautiful hiking trails, challenging mountain climbs and lots of other recreational activities on the edge of vast a wilderness.

Logging history, river drives, booms running down to elbow lake. Chuck Harris has done very detailed work up here.

The definition of the Northwoods Maine. Lovely. Mostly untouched. Part of the Pemadumcook chain of lakes. I love that there is no cost public access.
