- ★★★★★over 1 year agoAllot of pretty things to see out here. It is a smaller lake but worth it. The clouds added an extra touch of beauty. And the water was at 66° on a 70° day. And so much to do around the area with Red River, Angel Fire, and Eagles Nest. Allot of fun stores on the strip.
- ★★★★★about 1 year agoWe thought it would be a very scenic place to visit while in the but it was just ok.
- ★★★★★12 months agoWonderful place with Wonderful staff. On our visit to the park, we were warmly greeted by a ranger named Jordan Mitchell, who was absolutely Wonderful and went above and beyond what I would have expected was his job requirements. Mr Mitchell gave us advice on the best areas, as well as the most accessible ones due to my bad leg. He was also an absolute hero and saved my dog who got into a bit of trouble. Hands down one of the best park staff I've ever met. Bravo to nm state parks for hiring such exceptional staff.
- ★★★★★over 2 years agoStopped here for lunch on our way from Cimarron Canyon State Park to Taos Ski Valley. It was a Tuesday and it seemed we had the place to ourselves, besides the hundreds of prairie dawgs that kept coming for our food. We enjoyed the views over the lake eating lunch and then got the paddleboards on the lake. It was a windy day and storms were blowing in, but we enjoyed the peaceful setting on the boards before packing up. I heard July 4th is a wonderful time, but next time I might get a camping spot here to enjoy. Though shading was limited in this area.
- ★★★★★over 3 years agoBeautiful and quiet. Super clean bathrooms. Gorgeous views of the lake and surrounding mountains. We stayed here in late April and woke up to a pretty dusting of snow. It made for an incredibly beautiful drive out of the state park through the mountains. As we were leaving the state park, we saw 8 elk cross the road in front of us and make their way to the lake. Amazing! The city of Eagle Nest is also quite cute and looks like a fun place in the summer. We can't wait to come back here!
