Amazing views! And quiet! The rains that hit Long Lake cut our trip short. It was our first and I was too afraid to stay longer. But this will not be our last. We stayed at site 6, which was GORGEOUS! we will probably stay a bit closer to the launch next time. We had the lake practically to ourselves one other couple camping on the lake! The road getting to the lake is very narrow, the maintenance crew was filling holes with gravel which im sure saved the road from wash out from the rains. The carry in path is very obvious, and easy to follow. There are some areas with roots that are passable easily, but be alert if carrying gear that might obstruct vision. We did not fish much while there due to the heavy rains, we did see and hear a pair of common loons, which was absolutely gorgeous! And some seagulls.

Beautiful, remote place to paddle, hike and camp. 45 minutes from Tupper Lake due to the 5 mile dirt access road to parking area. Definitely worth the drive! We paddled across lake to jump onto the trail for Mt Frederica. We also paddled a short distance down the small river that connects to Nehasane Lake. Wish we could have gone all the way but not enough time. There are also several small islands to hop to.

Wonderful lake to visit. It's at the center of the only darksite in NY State. It's worth seeing the night sky without any light pollution and the lake provides a clearing to do so.
