As a kid I used to go to Mountain Creek Lake many many years ago to go fishing and water skiing with my mom and step-dad brother and sister. The one thing I remember was the many many large water snakes in the area. This was before fishing and water contact was banned by authorities due to the pollution caused by the Air Force jet fuel dumping. To my knowledge, it is still closed to the public to this day for any public contact of any kind.

I use to go here traditionally as a kid. My parents would every other weekend bar b que under a tree shade spot near the water. Near the boat ramp looking toward the plant is a spot my parents would park, they nicknamed it the island🏝️.I was born in 85" my parents started bringing me to Mountain Creek Lake around 1989 all the way up to 1996. The fourth of July the park would be full of vehicles everywhere. Fireworks lit up the lake and every family enjoying themselves. I remember one year on Independence Day once we were leaving the park when it got night time I was in backseat of my dad 88 Dodge Ram Charger and I swear the whole park was on 🔥 fire. Some weekends my parents would drink 🍻 there and jam to oldies 98.7 kluv. I would play with my G.I. Joe's and hot wheels in the dirt doing what a normal kid would do for fun. I can still remember to summer scent of the lake and hear the crickets and birds. I could see the army helicopters and Jets landing on the strip on the lake. My dad would say " boy wants your 18 I'm sending you to air force". And I would get excited. R I p Dad .. Robert Cipriano.. around the 2001 year they put a huge fence around the park :(..and car were no longer allowed to park on grass or designated spots..to this day it's like that..why?..Im now 38 years old and sometimes I go when I'm stressed out...but I go on the Grand prairie side of Lake where it's slightly open ...when I die I want my ashes to be spreaded there . .I wish they would fix it up and reopen it ..like white rock lake..someone please tell me why it's not open

The lake is great and has a ton of trails, but don't use this specific Google Maps location to get there, find the park listing and navigate with that. This location tried to take us through a military base twice and then a private factory road... We then gave up and found the second location with the correct directions.

Very nice area, great lake. Its a shame people have to ruin it by littering everywhere though! Other than that, awesome place. Creative truck parking as well. Great place for my pups to play in the water.
