- ★★★★★over 4 years agomyrtle lake was beautiful but tons of mosquitoes when i was there in mid-june. mountain biked to the lake via the entiat river trail- pretty easy & fun with minimal climbing. ran into some boy scouts camping right next to the lake, looked like an excellent spot. don't think i'd swim in the lake as it was kind of murky with a lot of bugs, but i guess people do (just not for me). just don't forget your insect repellent.
- ★★★★★over 2 years agoThe hike to Myrtle Lake is one of my favorites. I've hiked it many times and usually there are only 1 or 2 other vehicles at the trailhead. It's about 3.5 miles one-way and perfect for new hikers. The trail follows Entiat River offering views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Crossing over the river at the bridge brings you to Myrtle Lake. It's a perfect spot for relaxing in the peace and quiet of the wilderness. A few years ago, there was a fire in the area, but the forest is recovering and the trail is well maintained. The fire actually created some really unique scenery, with blackened trees and charred stumps contrasting with the new green vegetation. I highly recommend checking out Myrtle Lake if you're looking for a beautiful and casual hike.
