- ★★★★★over 3 years agoPristine Upper Payette Lake, 17 miles north of McCall is a great place for camping, fishing and hiking. There's a nature path at the north end of the lake and a few of the trailheads such as Deep Creek Trail, to Granite Lake and outlying areas start from here. There are numerous camp sites for rent, check with the forest service as they do tend to fill up during the summer. Watch out for the wildlife in the backcountry and make sure you let them know you are there so you don't startle them. Keep your food stored away from your tent and campsite as there are bear and other large animals in the area. It's also a great area for Bald Eagle sightings. As always leave it better than you found it and enjoy 😉.
- ★★★★★over 7 years agoTook a few of the boys camping here not too long ago. Pay campground was full, but the dispersed free sites were still open. Found a nice secluded spot to setup camp and had a great time! Such amazing vistas!
- ★★★★★over 2 years agoAbsolutely gorgeous. What a view and to get away from the crowd. No cell phone service. Love the peaceful lake.
- ★★★★★about 7 years agoBeautiful place. Paddled around in the kayaks all day. I've been going here my entire life. If you ever get a chance stop and dip your toes in the water. It's worth it.
- ★★★★★almost 6 years agoDefinitely a place to take the family or friends to, plenty of isolated places to camp. While you are there, try to do some fishing, or what ever water sports you like to do.
