About Victor Braunig Lake
Thinking about a trip to Victor Braunig Lake in San Antonio? Located at 78112, it's a handy spot for a bit of outdoor fun. While it's rated 3.9 stars overall, it's worth knowing what to expect. The lake itself offers opportunities for fishing and kayaking, though you'll want to bring your own kayak. Information on specific fish species or detailed fishing regulations isn't readily available, so a little pre-trip research might be helpful. Parking is usually available, making access relatively easy.
Now, about those reviews… some visitors have had less-than-stellar experiences. A couple of one-star reviews mentioned issues with cleanliness and overall maintenance. Another mentioned a lack of certain amenities that might be expected at a more developed lake. So, while you can likely enjoy a peaceful afternoon kayaking or trying your luck at fishing, you might want to temper your expectations a bit regarding pristine conditions. It’s a good idea to check recent reviews closer to your intended visit date, to get the most up-to-date picture.
Overall, Victor Braunig Lake provides a casual, accessible option for those seeking some water-based recreation near San Antonio. It’s not a high-end resort, but if you're looking for a simple outing with a chance to get out on the water and enjoy some quiet time, it might be just the ticket.

- ★★★★★about 1 year agoWouldn't let me on the property with my kayak cause the wind was too much. This was today 10/17/2024. You can check the weather for the day. Wind was 8mph with 10-15mph gusts. Baby bullshit, I paid for my annual pass, guess that doesn't matter
- ★★★★★over 6 years agoOkay here's the thing, it is a very nice place to go and hang out. Picnic or whatever, but the fishing absolutely sucks. If you love getting snagged on every single cast from underwater vegetation then be my guest. You pay money to go in there and have a horrible time, you have to literally Wade about a hundred yards into the water to get a good cast. Not a lot of fish activity other than 1 inch red drum. Not my ideal Place although the sunsets are absolutely amazing as you can see below. I do not recommend fishing at Braunig Lake. Everything is expensive as well so get ready to spend your rent money lol
- ★★★★★about 3 years agoVery peaceful in the early evening. The summer heat begins to subside, when the gentle breeze off the water calms you into a state of relaxation. Not just for fishing. Peace and relaxation is why I love going.
- ★★★★★about 1 year agoI bought a family pass, i’ll bring someone with me one out of 10 times, and the one time I brought my brother they made him pay 10 bucks. The lady in the front seemed way too enthusiastic about denying pass holder entry. zero stars.
- ★★★★★about 1 year agoIt is too expensive! $15 if arriving after 6pm, $10 per person, $10 per boat. It's not worth $35 for en evening after work a few hours until dark. The park owners can do better. Got really bad energy from lady at entrance. It's like she knew the price is way too high, but she was also super unfriendly for some reason. I might not come back
